THE ARVIGO TECHNIQUES OF

MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY® (ATMAT)

A noninvasive manipulation of the abdomen from the lower ribs to the pubic bone, back and pelvis. This work supports optimal functioning of the organs and the body's natural healing capacity. ATMAT is based on traditional ancient Maya medicine—it's most well- known for addressing optimal uterine position and widely known to support fertility and menopause, digestive challenges, dysmenorrhea, fibroids, cysts, back pain, varicose veins, and overall well-being.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (sometimes called Maya Massage) is based on years of research into massage, healing, and herbalism by Dr. Rosita Arvigo who also studied under the great Maya shaman of Belize, Don Elijio Panti.

Maya Abdominal Therapy for

fertility, pregnancy, & postpartum healing

Fertility

Abdominal Therapy is a wonderful way to support healthy conception, both natural and assisted.

Sessions bring blood flow to the pelvis and abdominal organs; nourishing the uterus and ovaries, releasing tension, improving hormonal, energetic, and lymphatic flow which all help to increase fertility.

Benefits for fertility:

  • improve health and regularity of your menstrual cycle

  • center, lift and balance your uterus and fallopian tubes for easier conception

  • balances hormones

  • support healthy digestion, absorption, and elimination

  • cleanse and nourish your uterine environment

  • cycle awareness

Pregnancy

Bodywork can positively impact your transition into motherhood. Taking some time for yourself and connecting with the inner rhythm of your body can benefit both mind and soul. Massage can help relieve minor aches as well as bring awareness to your changing body. This helps to balance stress hormones thus helping your body to prioritize nourishing your baby.

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® can be received throughout your pregnancy– as your uterus grows, the techniques change to align your uterus within your pelvic bowl. Abdominal Therapy can alleviate common discomforts of pregnancy and decrease pregnancy complications while improving labor outcomes. In person treatments can relieve pelvic congestion & pain associated with the uterus and all of her anatomical attachments. The techniques can also greatly benefit digestion, food absorption, fetal position, health of all abdominal organs, and blood flow to the uterus. Self-care/at home techniques performed regularly enhance the benefits of in person sessions.

Abdominal Therapy can be a profound healing treatment. In session we address the Ch’ulel known as chi or life force energy. It is common in many ancient healing traditions including The Maya tradition; that what we think of as purely physical disorders have roots in emotional wounds that in turn effect us on a spiritual level and thus manifest as physical disease.

We use prayer and plants to heal the body, while working closely with sacred blessing herbs of the earth and her healing frequencies.

This work supports every body; individually and as a collective.

This work helps us to let go of what no longer serves is.

We can address trauma, fear, sadness, grief (recent, family of origin, and generational).

This work can give us clearer access to ourselves.

In the healing we do ourselves, we also heal our

families, ancestors, local community, and the earth.
